Kad\u0131nlar\u0131n yakla\u015f\u0131k %50\u2019si ya\u015famlar\u0131 boyunca en az bir kez \u00dcSE ge\u00e7irmekte, bu<br \/>enfeksiyonlar\u0131n %20-30\u2019u ise tekrarlay\u0131c\u0131 nitelik ta\u015f\u0131maktad\u0131r (Foxman, 2014). Tedavide antibiyotikler<br \/>yayg\u0131n olarak kullan\u0131lsa da, artan antibiyotik direnci, bu enfeksiyonlar\u0131n y\u00f6netiminde alternatif ya da<br \/>tamamlay\u0131c\u0131 yakla\u015f\u0131mlara olan ihtiyac\u0131 art\u0131rmaktad\u0131r (Flores-Mireles et al., 2015).<\/p>\n<p>Bu ba\u011flamda son y\u0131llarda dikkat \u00e7eken do\u011fal bile\u015fiklerden biri <strong>D-mannoz<\/strong> olmu\u015ftur. D-mannoz,<br \/>glikozla yap\u0131sal benzerlik g\u00f6steren, suda \u00e7\u00f6z\u00fcn\u00fcr bir monosakkarittir. \u0130nce ba\u011f\u0131rsaktan h\u0131zla emilir,<br \/>metabolize olmadan kana ge\u00e7er ve b\u00fcy\u00fck \u00f6l\u00e7\u00fcde de\u011fi\u015fmeden idrar yoluyla at\u0131l\u0131r (Hu et al., 2016). Bu<br \/>\u00f6zelli\u011fi, onu \u00fcriner sistemde hedefe y\u00f6nelik etkili bir ajan haline getirmektedir.<\/p>\n<p>D-mannoz\u2019un etkisi, \u00f6zellikle \u00dcSE\u2019ye neden olan Escherichia coli (E. coli) bakterisinin patogenezinde<br \/>\u00f6nemli olan adezyon mekanizmas\u0131na y\u00f6neliktir. E. coli\u2019nin y\u00fczeyinde yer alan tip 1 fimbrialar,<br \/>\u00fcroepitelyal h\u00fccrelerdeki mannoz i\u00e7eren resept\u00f6rlere ba\u011flanarak enfeksiyon olu\u015fturur (Ofek et al.,<br \/>2003). Serbest D-mannoz molek\u00fclleri, bu adezyon resept\u00f6rlerine benzer yap\u0131da olduklar\u0131 i\u00e7in<br \/>bakterilerin onlara ba\u011flanmas\u0131n\u0131 sa\u011flar.
